S. Schonhar, Studies of the ecological behavior of vascular plants of the ground-cover vegetation of forests. III. Species that are concentrated on moist soils., ALLG FORST, 170(12), 1999, pp. 227-231
The ecological behavior of 40 vascular plant species of the ground-cover ve
getation of forests was investigated with regard to soil moisture and soil
acidity. The study concentrated on moist soils. Most species are fairly rel
iable moisture indicators. Some of the species, however, only react moderat
ely to the moisture factor. Most species show a more or less wide amplitude
with regard to acidity. This mainly applies to species which inhabit sligh
tly acidic to moderately acidic soils. Only few good indicator planes can b
e found for acidic soils, whereas several can be found for neutral to alkal
ine soils.
