Abstract
There is widespread use of biaxial testing of ceramics, but relatively litt le information concerning the accuracy of testing, and the pitfalls that ca n arise unless the test is carefully prescribed. The present paper reviews recent work in measuring elastic moduli using a biaxial natural frequency m ethod, and in investigating some of the potential sources of error in stren gth testing.
