The polar motion spectrum contiones frequency compoment of f(0), f(-1) and
f(-2). Both the statistical characteristics of each compoment and its gener
ation mechanism are playing a great role in the astronomy and geodynamics.
In this paper, polar motion of the earth is power spectrum model analyzed a
ccording to the wavelet theory. The core function is put forward for the fi
rst time, and the characteristics of core function is analyzed also. For th
e core function, the results shows that the mean variation period of of f(-
1) process is 438 days with 525 days for max. and 345 days for min., and th
at mean variation period of of f(-2) process is 426 days with 495 days for
max and 360 days for min. The f(0) process is correlative with the change o
f sunspot numbers and the f(-1) process and f(-2) process is independent of
sunspot numbers.
