L. Zuo et al., A THEORETICAL APPROACH TO GRAIN-BOUNDARY-CHARACTER-DISTRIBUTION (GBCD) IN TEXTURED POLYCRYSTALLINE MATERIALS, Zeitschrift fur Metallkunde, 85(8), 1994, pp. 554-558
The knowledge of grain boundary character distribution (GBCD) is essen
tial to understand the boundary-related properties of textured polycry
stalline materials. In this paper a quantitative approach to the GBCD
is described which permits a theoretical linkage with the will-known m
isorientation density function (MODF). For illustration, the approach
is applied to the study of orientation correlations in rapidly solidif
ied and fully annealed Fe-6.5 mass% Si alloy ribbons. It is concluded
that the observed orientation relationships of adjacent grains are det
ermined to a large extent by the crystallographic texture.
