Abstract
In this Note, we extend the mortar element method to the approximation of t he 3D Maxwell's equations by use of Nedelec's edge elements of second famil y. Integral coupling conditions are proposed in order to allow for nonmatch ing grids at the interfaces between subdomains and result in a globally non conforming approximation. The convergence analysis reveals that the method is optimal up to a root\ln h\ factor. (C) 1999 Academie des sciences/Editio ns scientifiques et medicales Elsevier SAS.
