Abstract
A new species of the crustacean class Remipedia, Speleonectes epilimnius, i s described from the surface water of an anchialine cave on San Salvador Is land in the southeastern Bahamas. It is the first remipede species to be co llected at the surface of cave water rather than beneath a density interfac e. Principle characters include relatively long trunk segments and absence of swimming appendages on the last two trunk segments. Comparisons are made to the other 11 remipede species; a key to the genus is included.
