M. Granlund et E. Bjorck-akesson, Integrating training in family-centered practices in context: Implicationsfor implementing change activities, INF YOUNG C, 12(3), 2000, pp. 46-60
In Sweden there is a trend toward family-centered intervention for children
with disabilities. However, most professionals are trained in child-focuse
d intervention. The shift in focus has made it necessary to train professio
nals in the new orientation. This article discusses in-service training of
professionals in family-centered practices. The training, which has been im
plemented on an interdisciplinary team basis in the context of ordinary hab
ilitation services, is described as one of several options for fostering im
provement within an organization. The implications for educational needs as
sessment, preparatory: work, and the implementation and evaluation of train
ing when moderators of change are integrated into ordinary services are dis
cussed.
