Abstract
Two methods to create a horizontal electric field were proposed for improve ment of the turn-off operation of a liquid crystal microlens with a divided electrode structure. Using these methods, a decrease in decay or recovery time of the microlens from more than ten seconds to only several millisecon ds was realized.
