Paper considers idealised problems relating to the axial stiffness of an an
chor imbedded at thr interface between dissimilar elastic halfspaces. The t
wo half spaces are bonded to each other in the region outside a circle. A t
hin rigid circular disc is embedded between the halfspaces and is bonded to
one or both of them. The stiffness is obtained in closed form by the syste
matic application of Fourier and Abel transforms to the governing integral
equations.
