We have studied buffer ions induced holes clustering in the CuO2 plane by m
eans of embedded cluster quantum chemistry calculations. This instability i
s suggested by Raman spectroscopy to be characteristic of the pseudo-gapped
fermi surface at T<T*. The results are discussed in the frame work of stro
ng coupling BCS theory and the recently proposed Phase-Coherent Holes-clust
er Resonances scenario.
