Abstract
1 Electron microscopy is useful in characterizing glomerulonephropathies be cause it can be used to detect inherent defects of the basement membrane as well as secondary deposits of immune complexes. 2 Familial glomerular diseases have been documented in a number of breeds o f dogs. Although most of these diseases are clinically apparent by the time dogs are 2 years old, some may not be apparent until dogs are 8 years old.
