We have grown the LiYF4 single crystal using the Czochralski technique in A
r-gas atmosphere. The measurements of complex dielectric constants and comp
lex impedances are carried out in the range of 100 Hz similar to 10 MHz and
up to 200 degrees C for c-plate of LiYF4 single crystal. LiYF4 reveals the
strong low frequency dielectric dispersion below 300 kHz from room tempera
ture to 200 degrees C. It is believed that the strong dielectric dispersion
is related to the ionic hopping conduction which arises mainly from the ju
mping of Li+-ions between neighboring sites. The conduction mechanism seems
to be the non-interacting Debye type and the relaxation times satisfy the
Arrhenius relation. The activation energy concerned with hopping conduction
is Delta=0.49 eV.
