Abstract
We present an ASIC implementation of a new high-speed pipelined wireless LA N modem for the ISM 2.4 GHz band. 64QAM (Quadrature Amplitude Modulation) c ombined with OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplex) scheme is used for higher data transmission rate of 6 Mbps compared to a typical wireless LAN transmission rate of 2 Mbps. A Pipelined and shared datapath architectu re is designed to reduce system complexity. The ASIC implemented OFDM-64QAM modem shows 10(-6) SER (Signal to Error Ratio) at 29.3 dB SNR (Signal to N oise Ratio).
