Abstract
The multilayer assembly of the organic pigment - 3,4,9,10-perylenetetracarb oxylic acid (PTCA) - with polycations was achieved by prior mixing of PTCA with poly(sodium 4-styrene sulfonate) (PSS). This method improved the stabi lity of the PTCA in the alternate films which also led to a photoluminescen ce enhancement compared with the spin-cast film. A green light electrolumin escence device containing PTCA multilayer films was fabricated with a turn- on voltage of about 4.5 V. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science S.A. All rights reserv ed.
