Abstract
Low-molecular-weight peptides involved in gene expression and cell growth h ave been isolated from DNA preparation from eukaryotic cells. After phospho rylation with protein kinase CKII (pCKII) these peptides are able to bind t o DNA in presence of divalent cations and salt/ethanol. This finding may ex plain the mechanism by which the peptides exert their activity.
