New local modes due to substitutional carbon, C-As, have been detected at 5
66.2 cm(-1) and at 1134.2 and 1149.3 cm(-1) respectively, by Fourier transf
orm infrared absorption spectroscopy. The bands are attributed to excited-s
tate transitions of the carbon local oscillator. Based on a comparison with
recent theoretical predictions, the energy-level diagram including anharmo
nicity is discussed. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
