Abstract
Some non-Kekule-type organic molecules exhibit a high-spin state based on a n intramolecular spin-exchange interaction. These high-spin molecules can b e extended to the corresponding polyradicals with spins that are ferromagne tically aligned. Poly(4-oxyphenyl-1,2-phenyleneethynylene) was synthesized, and the effect of the head-to-tail connectivity on the ferromagnetic inter action is described.
