A series of carboxylic acids containing a phosphinoyl group in the a-positi
on relative to the carboxy group were synthesized and tested for extraction
ability with respect to Sc, Ga, in, TI(III), Y, Zr, Pd(II), Pb, Hg(II), an
d Bi from aqueous phase to 1,2-dichloroethane. The efficiency and selectivi
ty of extraction of Zr and Sc into the organic phase was examined with rega
rd to the extractant structure.
