Abstract
The reaction of tributyl(5-hydroxy-3-oxo-2-phenylpyridazin-4-yl)phosphonium chloride with butyllithium involves dehydrohalogenation to form the corres ponding ylide. The structure of the latter is studied by X-ray diffraction and discussed in terms of quantum chemistry.
