Macroscopic traffic flow models: A question of order

The aim of this paper is to propose a methodology for the comparison of fir st and second order macroscopic traffic flow models. First, we identify a c ertain number of difficulties and investigate how various macroscopic model s Cope with them. Second, we propose a set of problems or situations which could be used as a test workbench for the comparison of models.
