Abstract
The photochemically induced ring contractions have been extended to 3-aryl- 5,6-diphenyl-2,5-dihydro-1,2,4-triazines in order to study the effect of th e electron-withdrawing and -donating groups at position 4 of the 3-aryl gro up. Relative reaction rates have been measured and ratio of the extrusion o f N(1)/N(2) in the 2-methyl series were studied. Results are supporting our hypothetic mechanism.
