Fj. Moncher et Ge. Miller, Nondelinquent youths' stealing behavior and their perceptions of parents, school, and peers, ADOLESCENCE, 34(135), 1999, pp. 577-591
Correlates of stealing behavior were investigated in a sample of 167 nondel
inquent 10- to 15-year-olds. Stealing was related to youths' attitudes towa
rd parents and school, as well as reasons for stealing. Stealing was most f
requent among older males. Attitude toward school was most consistently rel
ated to stealing behavior, though perceptions of family's values and the co
nsequences of stealing were also important. Interventions with youths at ri
sk for continued covert antisocial behaviors are discussed.
