Abstract
Apiguard was applied to colonies to determine the effect of treatment on wo rker brood sealed before application (pupal mortality), brood sealed after application (larval mortality) and adult bee survival. When Apiguard was ap plied after brood had been sealed or when larvae were 4-5 days old, the sub sequent adult emergence was very high in both heated (95.5-100%) and untrea ted (control, 92.3-100%) colonies. Higher mortality for young larvae (0-3 d ays of age) nas observed in treated colonies (74.4-87.0%) compared to untre ated colonies (89.7-95.2%). Adult survivorship was not affected by treatmen t with Apiguard.
