Modeling trends with annual survey data

Flexible models are proposed for assessing trend in annual forest survey da ta with increasing levels of generality. The models can be fit to the data using a mixed estimator and compared using the Akaike or Schwarz informatio n criterion. The models also provide smoothed estimates of annual means.
