Abstract
The jump-length probability distribution (JLPD) in a periodic system is stu died using the solution of the linearized Boltzmann equation with BGK colli sion kernel. The equation is solved both by the matrix-continued-fraction m ethod and by direct numerical simulations. The JLPDs obtained by the BGK eq uation are compared to those derived from other kinetic models, such as the Langevin (Fokker-Planck) model. (C) 1999 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
