Abstract
A selective vapour phase dehydrochlorination (DHC) of chloro alkanes was ac hieved over a simple iron oxide catalyst system. The chloro alkanes were se lectively dehydrochlorinated to their corresponding alkenes. This catalyst was also found to be effective for the removal of chlorine from fuel oil de rived from the degradation of PVC containing waste plastics.
