Regioregular poly[2,5-bis(3-butyl-2-thienyl)tellurophene]: Synthesis and characterization aspects

This work reports on a novel, facile synthetic methodology into the telluro phene nucleus, which was applied in particular to the synthesis of the cent rosymmetrical 2, 5-bis(3-butyl-2-thienyl)tellurophene. Thereafter, oxidativ e polymerization of the monomer using iron (III) chloride afforded the regi oregular poly[2,5-bis(3-butyl-2-thienyl)tellurophene]. Preliminary characte rization aspects of the polymer are reported.
