Abstract
A classification of dysfunctional shunts is proposed and clarification of t he terminology discussed. This is based on experience of successive shunt m alfunctions over a 3-year period with the aid of ventricular pressure measu rements, imaging and clinical semiology. The classification system is both anatomical and functional.
