Urethral incontinence in patients with neuropathic bladders remains a manag
ement problem not only to urologists but also to the primary carers of thes
e patients. It impairs quality of life and encourages social withdrawal, bu
t also leads to perineal soreness and inflammation. A number of surgical te
chniques have been described to increase bladder outlet resistance in order
to render patients with neuropathic bladders perineally dry. We report our
experience in achieving dryness with a periurethral Goretex(R) sling in 17
patients.
