Abstract
Taxols, the N-acyl(N-alkyl)-phenylisoserine esters of baccatin III-type tax oids, have been reported from different yew plants (Taxus species). The mos t important compound is taxol (taxol A, taxol(R) paclitaxel) which is a lea d anticancer agent in recent years. Overall, twenty-eight natural taxols ar e known to date. The literature concerning the chemistry and bioactivity of these compounds has been briefly reviewed.
