Abstract
(Z)-7-Heneicosene 4a and (Z)-7-tricosene 4b, the main components of the fem ale sex pheromones of staphylinid beetle, Aleochara cartula have been synth esized by hydroboration of 1-octyne with BHBr2.SMe2 followed by esterificat ion with a dial and subsequent treatment with Grignard reagent, I2/MeOH and NaOH.
