7-Desmethylartemetin (5,7-dihydroxy-3,6,3',4'-tetramethoxyflavone), a rare
flavonoid reported from Limnophila gratissima, has been found to be a mixtu
re of two flavones [5,7-dihydroxy-6,8,4'-trimethoxyflavone (nevadensin) and
5-hydroxy-6,7,4'-trimethoxy flavone (salvigenin)]. Besides the plant conta
ins two phenolic acids; caffeic acid and chlorogenic acid. The present find
ing is supported by chemotaxonomy of Scrophulariaceae.
