Abstract
The ultraviolet laser desorption/ionisation time-of-flight mass spectra of [Os-6(CO)(18)] recorded in both the positive and negative mode exhibit feat ures that correlate with the macroscopic physiochemical properties of the c luster. In addition, hexanuclear clusters, related to [Os-6(CO)(18)], are t he major products of the laser desorption/ionisation of [Os-3(CO)(10)(NCMe) (2)] and [H2Os3(CO)(10)], paralleling macroscopic synthetic protocols.
