Sn. Guha et Ki. Priyadarsini, Kinetic and redox characteristics of phenoxyl radicals of eugenol and isoeugenol: A pulse radiolysis study, INT J CH K, 32(1), 2000, pp. 17-23
The phenoxyl radicals of eugenol (EgOH) and isoeugenol (iEgOH) were generat
ed by the specific one-electron oxidant N-3(.) using pulse radiolysis techn
ique, and were characterized by their absorption spectra, decay and formati
on kinetics, and one-electron reduction potential (E-7(1)) values, Reactivi
ties of eugenol phenoxyl radical with the biologically important molecule,
trolox C (analogue of vitamin E, alpha-tocopheral), were determined, Reacti
ons of OH with these phenols were studied at different pHs and suitable mec
hanisms for these reactions were suggested. Scavenging abilities of the phe
nols toward highly damaging Br-., NO2., and CCl3O2. radicals were evaluated
