Abstract
The dynamic yield Y-D (which is determined usually in dynamic experiments f rom Hugoniot elastic limit) can be calculated for ceramic targets from stat ic indentation experiments using Vickers hardness and plasticity characteri stic delta(H). The magnitude of Y-D approximately equals to the static yiel d stress sigma(s) calculated by Marsh equation. The employment of a set of diamond indenters with different angles of sharpening makes possible to con struct stress-strain curves for ceramic materials and to determine yield st ress at different deformation degrees.
