Abstract
The isolation and structure elucidation of five novel triterpenes (1-5 ) from a South American medicinal plant ''chuchuhuasi'' (Maytenus kruk ovii) are described. The structures of these oleanane and ursane trite rpenes, each containing an alpha,beta-unsaturated ketone in the C ring , were elucidated by interpretation of their spectral data.
