Abstract
YFexAl12-x alloys within their homogeneity range were synthesized by are-me lting. Their crystal structures were determined for the first time from sin gle-crystal X-ray diffraction data: ThMn12-type structure, 14/mmm space gro up; a=0.87561(6), c=0.50446(5) nm for YFe4Al8, R=0.0295, wR2=0.0451; a=0.87 159(8), c=0.50324(9) nm for YFe4.57Al7.43, R=0.0386, wR2=0.076; a=0.88226(E i), c=0.50632(9) nm for YFe3.08Al8.92, R=0.0266, wR2=0.0581. The compound Y Fe3.08Al8.02 is reported for the first time. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science S.A. All rights reserved.
