SCIENTISTS EXONERATED BY ORI REPORT LINGERING WOUNDS

Too little, too late? An informal survey conducted by The Scientist of 10 researchers who have been formally charged with scientific miscond uct and subsequently cleared finds most saying that the system tends t o presume them guilty and that the exoneration does not go far enough; university administrators who investigate misconduct allegations, how ever, note that cases resulting in exoneration rarely are clear-cut.
