Several new bis(pentafluorophenyl) nickel (II) complexes with O,O- and O,N-
donor ligands were prepared by directly reacting the hydroxo-complex [{Ni(C
6F5)(2)(mu-OH}(2)](2-) with the protic acids oxalic (H2oX), glycine (Hgly),
picolinic (Hpic), 2-aminobenzoic (Hambz), acetohydroxamic (Haha) and benzo
hydroxamic (Hbha) to give the mu-oxalate and mononuclear anionic complexes
[Ni(C6F5)(2)L)(2)(L-L)](-) (L-L = O-O or O-N ligand). Reaction of the di-mu
-hydroxo precursor with monooximes of diacetyl (Hdamo), benzyl (Hdbmo), 2-a
cetylpyridine (Hapmo) and 2-benzylpyridine (Hbpmo) also yielded the expecte
d pentafluorophenyl derivatives [Ni(C6F5)(2)(L-L)](-). All the complexes ha
ve been characterized by partial elemental analyses, conductance measuremen
ts, and spectroscopic (IR, and H-1 and F-19 NMR) methods. (C) 2000 Elsevier
