Abstract
[FeL(MeOH)Cl](2) (L = N-(5-methylphenyl)-4-methoxysalicylaldimine) was synt hesized and its crystal structure determined, [C32H32Cl2Fe2N2O8], triclinic , space group P (1) over bar, a = 8.116(3), b = 9.684(2), c = 11.402(3) Ang strom, alpha = 66.23(2), beta = 79.07(3), gamma = 84.75(2)degrees, V = 805. 1(4) Angstrom(3), Z = 1. TWO identical [FeL(MeOH)CI] fragments, related by an inversion centre, are connected by two bridging O atoms to form a binucl ear unit. The iron(III) centres are separated by 3.189(1) Angstrom and weak ly antiferromagnetically coupled (J = -8.3(1) cm(-1)), which follows from t emperature-dependent magnetic susceptibility measurements in the range 4.2- 265.5 K.
