Abstract
The article defines a model of the mind comprised of the configurations of mental activity that underlie and determine Rorschach inkblot responses. Tw enty-one response variables from the protocols of normal participants (medi cal students) were factor analyzed for each of the 10 inkblots. Ten unique factor structures resulted and were found to be composed of 9 individual fa ctors (configurations of mental activity), W/D-d (Drive Initiated Organizat ion/Concretive Reaction), MIF (Imagination/Control), FC FY/F (Emotionality/ Control), V/F (Introspection/Control), +/- (Objective/Subjective Form), P/O (Objective/Subjective Content), H/A (Self/Non-Self Content), S/M V (Extern alization/Internalization), and R (D + A)/(Drive).
