In this paper, three formulations of a single-region dual boundary element
method for dynamic crack problems are presented. The dynamic stress intensi
ty factors are calculated by crack opening displacement. These methods are
developed to study the dynamic behaviour of stationary cracks in three-dime
nsional analysis. Formulations of the methods and computational efficiency
characterized by memory and central processing unit time are discussed. In
order to compare these three approaches, they are applied to pure mode and
mixed-mode crack problems in infinite and finite domains.
