Abstract
Preverecynarmin, isolated from a pennatulacean coral, has been synthesized from E,E-farnesol. The key steps are alkylation of the cyanohydrin trimethy lsilyl ether 5 with the halide 6, the regioselective epoxidation of the sil oxyl ether 9, and the intramolecular macrocyclization of the siloxyl ether 12 induced by Ti(0).
