Methods are described for the normal-phase separation of some styrene oligo
mers by TEC and by overpressured-layer chromatography (OPLC) using the auto
mated OPLC chromatograph. Results obtained by these techniques were compare
d on the basis of their separation parameters to study the relationship Ite
m een average plate height and development distance, resolution, and averag
e retardation factor, and the correlation between R-M and degree of polymer
ization. To characterize the automatic OPLC system, the dependence of avera
ge plate height on flow rate and development distance was examined by use o
f TLC and HPTLC sorbent layers.
