Tc. Zhang et Dy. Li, Effects of yttrium on corrosive erosion and dry sand erosion of FeAlCr(Y) diffusion coatings on 1030 steel, MAT SCI E A, 277(1-2), 2000, pp. 18-24
Research was conducted to investigate yttrium effects on the performance of
FeAlCr diffusion coating on 1030 steel under corrosive erosion, dry sand e
rosion and corrosion attacks, respectively. The coating was made by a pack-
cementation process. Corrosive erosion losses of Y-free and Y-containing Fe
AlCr coatings in a dilute NaCl slurry containing 30% silica sand and in a d
ilute H2SO4 slurry containing 30% silica sand were determined, respectively
. The corrosion rates and electrochemical characteristics of the FeAlCr(Y)
coatings in both dilute H2SO4 solution and NaCl solution were also determin
ed. In addition, dry sand erosion of the coatings was evaluated. The experi
mental results showed that yttrium remarkably improved the resistance of Fe
AlCr coating to corrosion, corrosive erosion and dry sand erosion, respecti
vely. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science S.A. All rights reserved.
