Abstract
In 7-(1,2,3,4,5,6,7-heptaphenylcycloheptatrienyl) isothiocyanate and isosel enocyanate, migration of isothiocyanate and isoselenocyanate groups along t he perimeter of the seven-membered ring occurs via an intramolecular dissoc iation-recombination mechanism with high free energy barriers (Delta G not equal(298)(not equal)) of 24.3 and 22.4 kcal mol(-1), respectively.
