Abstract
Fe/Au multilayers have been sputter deposited and their magnetic prope rties studied. The magnetization shows' a tendency to increase for Fe layers t(Fe) thinner than 20 Angstrom. For the sample with t(Fe) = 8.4 Angstrom the magnetic moment of Fe is calculated to be 2.55 mu(B), wh ich is about 16% higher than that of bulk Fe. The surface anisotropy i s found to be 0.38 erg cm(-2).
