Abstract
An erbium-doped fibre amplifier has been implemented with a 1.48 mu m pumpi ng from a Cr4+:YAG solid state laser. Record launched pump power of 256 mW and output power of 21.8 dBm with this type of pump laser have been obtaine d. Results are shown for a broad range of pump wavelength (24 nm) and signa l wavelength (70 nm). (C) 1999 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
