Da. Westerman et al., Fatal disseminated infection by Scedosporium prolificans during induction therapy for acute leukemia: a case report and literature review, PATHOLOGY, 31(4), 1999, pp. 393-394
We report a case of fatal disseminated fungal infection by Scedosporium pro
lificans which occurred in a patient with acute leukemia during induction c
hemotherapy, Rapid clinical deterioration despite high-dose empirical ampho
tericin B highlights both the pathogenicity of this fungus in immunocomprom
ised hosts and its resistance to standard antifungal therapy.
