Abstract
Rotation of giant "point attached" phospholipid (POPC) vesicles in a shear flow was studied. The dependence of the angular velocity on the flow gradie nt was measured and the experimental results were compared to the predictio ns of a theoretical model. A good linear correlation between the angular ve locity of the vesicle and the flow gradient, as predicted, was observed.
